Two Detentions in the Aftermath of London Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

The assault resulted in the partial closure of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

Two more people are now in custody related to a robbery at Heathrow Airport in which 21 people were injured by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to police.

A 24-year-old man, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, authorities confirmed.

These detentions come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the attack, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was one of the injured during the incident. Five people went to hospital for medical care and were later discharged.

Police detained a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault near the scene. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Police were called at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several people hurt by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.

The assault - an event that police said was isolated and not being treated as terrorism - caused train delays and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
